What's the difference between auto body and collision repair?

Collision repair is the work. A bent frame gets measured against factory dimensions on the Shark system, panels get repaired or replaced, paint is baked in a downdraft booth, and glass is fitted here. That is what happens after somebody hits your car.

Do I have to use the shop my insurance recommends?

For most people the claim is harder than the repair. An adjuster you've never met is deciding what your car needs, and they often name a shop they want you to use.

You don't have to. Michigan leaves the choice of shop with you, and one estimate is enough. We've worked with every major insurer for decades without being on a preferred list.
